Great Symphonical Cycle
Henri Sigfridsson,
a young Finnish piano player (born 1974 in Turkey), continued his
studies in Helsinki and other musical conservatories in Cologne
and Weimar, after he had graduated at the Conservatory in Turkey.
After several successful placements at many piano competiotions
he placed 2nd and got awarded by the audience at the Géza Anda
Piano Competition in Zürich. Henri Sigfridsson is currently the
most demanded piano player in the whole Europe, USA and also in
Japan. He cooperated with many famous orchestras, e.g. with the
Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, MDR Orchestra,
Orchestre National de Lille Orchestra, Weimarer Staatskapelle Orchestra,
Salzburg Camerata Academica Orchestra and many others, whose conductors
were Vladimir Ashkenazy, Dennis Russell Davies, Alexander Lazarev,
Lawrence Foster, Howard Shelley, Osmo Vänskä, Theodore Kuchar or
Georg Alexander Albrecht.
Sergej Babayan was
born in Armenia in a family of musicians. He started playing
the piano at the age of three years. He graduated at Moscow University
in 1989 as a V.Gornostajev's student. He visited the USA, Canada,
Japan and Europe, where he performed the recitals. He took part
in many festivals - Mayfest in Glassgow, Duszniki Chopin Festival
in Poland and White Nights Festival in Petersburg. He could be
heard in the New York, Cleveland, France, Poland and Great Britain
radio. At the end of the 90's he became interested in the chamber
music and he also performed Beethoven's Sonata for the first
time in this decade. Babayan established and is the director
of the Sergej Babayan International Piano Academy, which he established
together with the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1995.
Eva Dřízgová-Jirušová is
an opera soloist of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava
and became one of the most popular opera singers of its concert
repertoir. She was very successful as Violetta, which she interprets
at home and abroad, e.g. in Spain. She has been singing in Germany,
France, Italy, Finland, Russia, Spain, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria,
Luxembourg and Poland. In 1997 she performed a title role in Janáček's
Cunning Little Vixen with the Tokio Symphonical Orchestra. Further,
she performed Mozart's and Dvořák's Requiem, Pergolesi, Rossini,
Dvořák's and Szymanowski's Stabat Mater, Massenet's Oratorio Maria
Magdalena and other famous cantatas and oratorios. She was awared
twice the Thalia Award for the Best Female Performance in Opera
(1996 and 1998).
Jana Štefáčková graduated
at the Prague Conservatory. She was Professor J. Krásová's student.
In 1998 she placed second at the Czech Conservatories Show. She
was a host in the F.X.Šalda's Theatre in Liberec (Lola - Peasant
Cavallier), in the Municipal Theatre in Ústí nad Labem (Fox and
Cock - The Cunning Little Vixen) and in the National Moravian-Silesian
Theatre in Ostrava (Seraphine - Virgin Seraphine's Pearls). Since
2000 she has been a soloist of the Brno National Theatre Opera.
At the same time she has been a host to the Prague National Theatre.
At present she has been performing Lel in Rimský-Korsakov's Snow
White (Sněhurka) in Ostrava and Hänsel in Humperinck's Babes in
the Wood (Perníková chaloupka) in Brno. She cooperates with Professor
N.Romanová.
Jurij Galatenko was
born in Kijev in 1964. He graduated in conducting of an orchestra
at the Kijev State Conservatory. In 1995 he finished studies of
the opera and symphonical conducting at the Ukrainian National
Music Academy. Since 2000 he has been Principal Conductor of the
National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava and also an external
teacher of conducting at the University of Ostrava. He presented
himself to the Ostrava public during the Ostrava Days of Contemporary
Music in 2003.
Lubomír Mátl is
the leading Czech choir master and conductor. After the studies
of the organ and the piano at the Brno Conservatory he continued
to study conducting of an orchestra and of a choir at JAMU in Brno.
Soon after the studies he reached brilliant results with the Brno
Academic Choir. He worked as Principal Choir Master of the Slovak
Philharmonic Choir in Bratislava and later as Principal Choir Master
of the Prague Philarmonic Choir. He also co-operates with many
significant conductors. At present he has been working working
with many Czech and foreign musical orchestras. Since 1975 he has
been performing with the Moravian Vocal Teachers Association, with
which he reached many achievements.
Karel Dohnal,
one of the most successful artists of the young generation, is
the winner of many international competitions (Prague Spring 2002,
Bayreuth 2001, Ostende 1999, Sevilla 1997, London 1997). After
he had graduated at the Ostrava Conservatory in the P.Bohuš's class
and at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague in V.Mareš's class
he continued the studies in London, Berlin, Petersburg and Hilversum.
He has been performing together with Czech and international chamber
orchestras. A very important achievement was his 1st place at the
Premio Valentino Bucchi Competition in Rome in 2004. Since 2002
he has been playing the clarinet, which is produced by the famous
brand Salmer.
Jakub Hrůša was
born in Brno in 1981. He graduated at the Academy of Musical Arts
in Prague in 2004 with Suk's symphony Asraen, which he conducted
by heart with the Czech Broadcasting Symphonical Orchestra. His
tutors at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague were famous Czech
conductors J.Bělohlávek, R.Eliška and L.Svárovský. He was also
Professor R.Köhler's student at Universität der Künste in Berlin.
In 2000 he got awarded by the jury of the Prague Spring (Pražské
jaro) and three years later he won the Lovro von Mačič's Award
for the Best Conductor in Zagreb. He performed as Principal Conductor
of the Prague Students Orchestra and as the conductor of the Czech
Students Orchestra. At the beginning of the 2003/2004 season he
was appointed Assistant of the Principal Conductor of the Czech
Philharmonic. At the end of 2004 he got a great chance at the Prague
Symphonical Orchestra FOK and at the Czech Philharmonic. He was
invited to co-operate with these two orchestras after the critics
had reviewed his existing work. During the last seasons Hrůša performed
with SOČR at the Prague Spring Festival and he also with the Slovak
Philharmonic, State Philharmonic Brno and with several other orchestras
from abroad. After these debuts was Hrůša appointed Principal Conductor
of the Prague Chamber Philharmonic and Principal Conductor of the
B.martinů's Philharmonic in Zlín and, at the beginning of this
year, Assistant of the Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique
de Radio France.
Thorleif Thedéen,
a Swedish player of the cello, became popular after he had won
the three most important competitions in playing the cello in 1985.
Recently, he has been the most popular soloist of most of the international
musical centres. He has been performing regularly with the most
significant Scandinavian Orchestras, but also with other musical
orchestras from the whole world. He also takes part in the recitals
and chamber concerts, which take place at the most famous concert
halls in the world (e.g. in the Carnegie Hall, in the Wigmore Hall).
He is a frequent host of important musical festivals (Prague Spring,
Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and festivals in Bordeaux, Oslo,
Bath, Stavanger and Kuhm). He plays David Techler's cello from
1711.
Fabio Bidini,
born in Italian Arezza, started playing the piano at the age of
five. At the age of eleven he placed 1st in the most prestigious
piano competition in Italy. His most important tutors were Orazio
Frugoni and Maria Tipo. He has been performing and co-operating
with the most renowned world orchestras and their conductors. The
peak of his career was the performance at the San Francisco Symphonical
Festival in 2000, where he performed Rachmaninovov's Piano Concert
no.2 op.18.. Bidini received standing ovations. He plans a co-operation
with the Berlin Symphony - a tour in the Czech Republic, France,
Spain, Singapore and North America.
Christian Arming is
one of the most popular conductors of the generation of young artists.
At present he is Musical Director of the Luzern Theatre and Principal
Conductor of its Symphonical Orchestra. He is also Musical Director
of Japanese Philharmonic. He was born in Vienna and he studied
conducting in K.Österreich's and L. Hager's classes at the Academy
of Music and Dramaturgy in Vienna. For the first time in his life,
at the age 24, he became a conductor of Janáček's Philharmonic.
Shortly after this he was appointed Principal Conductor and remained
in this position until the 2001/2002 concert season. Recently,
he devotes himself to the opera art. He should be performing in
the USA, Canada, Italia and Germany, recording a CD with the New
Japan Philharmonic, performing Strauss' Elektra in Verona and Wagner's
Flying Dutchman (Bludný Holanďan) in Frankfurt.
Maurizio Baglini was
born in Pisa. He got a Master degree at the Piano Academy in Imola
in 1999. This young Italian is called the "Poet of the Piano" for
his universality, creativity, deepness and musical maturity. He
is the winner of many international piano competitions (in 1999
he was the winner of the World Music Piano Masters Competition
in Monte Carlo). He took part in many international musical festivals
and played at many famous concert halls. Performing at concerts
with many significant orchestras from the whole world followed
after the very successful American debut in 1998. After his first
performance in China and a tour in Japan in 2004 he has become
very popular musician in the Asia.
Carlos Miguel Prieto is
considered to be the most dynamic and interesting conductor of
recent years. He is Musical Director of the Mexico's oldest orchestra
Xalapa Symphony Orchestra and of the Huntsville Orchestra. He is
a frequent conductor of most of the significant Mexican orchestras
and is a host conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Houston
Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Florida Philharmonic, Louisiana Philharmonic
and others. He is a conductor of German, Dutch, Russian, Portugal,
Spanish, French, Irish, Israeli and Latin America Orchestras. He
was awared the Conductor of the Year 2002 by the Mexican Union
of Musical and Theatre Critics and in 1998 he got Mozart's Honourable
Mention awarded by the Mexican Government and the Austrian Embassy
in Mexico.
Joshua Smith,
a young American flute player, became successful at the time he
performed with the Cleveland Orchestra. He is respected for his
unique musical sensitivity, simplicity, timber colourity and fluency.
At present he has been successful as a recital player at the chamber
music concerts. Recently, he has been performing with Kathryn Brown,
a wonderful piano player, and also with Yolanda Kondonassis, a
brilliant harp player. He works also as a techer of playing the
flute at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is also a frequent
participant at the national and international master courses and
is a host artistic leader of the New World Symphony Orchestra in
Florida.
Pavel Šporcl is
certainly one the most significant musicians in the Czech Republic.
He has been called a "Pirate of the Concert Stages", "Rocker
of the Classical Music", "The Greatest Talent of the
New Generation of the Violinists", "Musician - Fighter" etc.
He began playing the violin at the age of five. He graduated in
playing the violin at the Prague Conservatory and later at the
Academy for Musical Arts in the V. Stínil's class. Besides the
studies at the Academy of Musical Arts (AMU) he studied playing
the violin at prestigious universities in the USA. His tutors were
musical legends. He won several significant competitions and received
many national and international awards. He has been performing
with many Czech and foreign musicians. He performed at many concerts
in Europe, but also in the USA, Canada, Izrael and Japan.
Jaroslava Pěchočová studied
in the I. Moravec's class at the Acedemy of Musical Arts in Prague,
after she had graduated at the Pardubice Conservatory. She finished
Nelly Akopian's master courses and in 2002 she graduated at Royal
College in London. At present she has been studying for the degree
of a doctor in Professor's Moravec class. She is the winner of
Czech piano competitions (e.g. in Hradec Králové in 1996) and the
prizewinner of several ones abroad (e.g. in Wroclaw in 1995 - solo
and dueto play; in Missouri in 1998, in Wales in 2001). She has
been performing successfully as a solo player with several leading
orchestras. She was a host to many concerts in Germany, Austria
and Russia, and the cooperation with the Kyoto Orchestra was also
successful (Japanese Conductor Tetsuro Ben). She was invited to
perform with the Royal Philharmonic Liverpool, Slovak Philharmonic
Bratislava, Janáček's Philharmonic Ostrava and to recite at the
World Piano Music Festival in Prague.
Martin Turnovský studied
conducting at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague, where he was
K.Ančerle's pupil. In 1958 he placed 1st at the Besançon International
Competition for Conductors in France. The invasion of the Soviet
army in 1968 interrupted his cooperation with the leading Czech
orchestras, after which Turnovský decided to emigrate to Austria.
The following professional career abroad, during which he was appointed
at various posts (Dresden State Opera and Dresden State Orchestra
Musical Director or Norwegian State Opera and Bonn Opera Director)
is truly remarkable. He was a conductor of many renowned orchestras
in the world. He was on a tour in Australia, New Zealand, Korea,
Great Britain and Japan. In 1989 he was invited to be the leading
conductor of most of the East European orchestras. In 1999 he was
awarded the First Class Honourable Red Cross for Science and Art
in Austria.
James Buswell,
a solo and chamber music player, a conductor and a teacher belongs
to the most universal musicians of the present time. He performed
with most of the famous world orchestras in the whole world, e.g.
in the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America and he co-worked
with its famous conductors. He is famous for his risky dramaturgy,
which combines famous musical pieces with the less famous ones.
He is connected to the new music and he performs works of many
unknown authors of the present. He tries to revive the less renowned
Martinů's, Weill's, Busoni's and Respoghi's works of the 20th century.
He got the Best Concert Grammy nomination for his performance of
Samuel Barber's Violin Concert. He has been teaching at the New
England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
Jeunesses Musicales Cycle
Ľubica Divulitová was
born in 1982 in Levoča in a non-musical family. All of the family
memebers had a positive attitude to the music even no one of them
was a musician. With their support she began singing at the age
of four. Later she devoted herself to the singing at the Primary
School of Arts in Humenné. Then she passed the entrance exams to
the Conservatory in Košice. At present she has been studying the
4th year at the Institue for Artistic Studies of the University
of Ostrava. Her tutor is H.Januszewská. In 2002 she took part at
the I.Godin's Musical Competition and after two years she took
part in the M.Schneider-Trnavský's Competition in Trnava. In this
year she got awarded a Honourable Mention at the Sowiańskiej Muzyki
Wokanej Competition in Katowice.
Nela Stebnická,
a fifteen-year-old flute player, became at the age of seven a singer
at the V.Petrželka's Primary School of Arts in Ostrava - Hrabůvka.
However, shortly after a one year long studies she changed the
instrument to recorder. She was quite successful in playing this
instrument and in 1999 she became a soloist of the Galán Cemballo
Orchestra. After only a year she placed 1st in the national competition
of playing this instrument. Since 2002, after she had placed 3rd
in Prague Junior Note Competition, she has been playing the piano
and she has been quite successful with it.
Marek Prášil devotes
himself to the music since the age of seven. He started with playing
the percussion, later he played the clarinet at the Primary School
of Arts in Ostrava - Zábřeh and in Ostrava - Poruba, where J.Hejkl
and Š.Vzorková were his tutors. Since 2001 he has been a student
of the Janáček's Conservatory in the MgA. P. Bohuš's class. He
performed successfully at several competitions; his greatest success
is the 2nd place among 90 competitors in playing the clarinet at
the International Competiotion in Playing the Brass, which took
place in Poland in 2004. Besides these events he has been a frequent
visitor of interpretation courses, he has been a member of the
Brass Harmony Orchestra, Students' Symphonical Orchestra and of
the Ostrava Clatinet Quartet, which has a residence at the Janáček's
Conservatory. He co-operates as a soloist with many large brass
orchestras in the Czech Republic and in Poland.
Zbyněk Müller belongs
to the generation of young Czech conductors. He devotes himself
to the music since his early childhood - when he was six years
old he started playing the piano, later when he was twelve he started
playing the oboe. He has been conducting since 1990, after the
studies at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague. His tutor was
J.Bělohlávek there. In 1996 he started to co-operate with the Prague
Chamber Philharmonic, even with the significant music festivals
and at prestigious events (Prague Spring, Chopin's Mariánské Spa,
Murten Classic, Rememberance Day of A.Dvořák's Death - the last
one is a live concert transmitted to the whole world). He performed
as a soloist and at the same time as a conductor at several events.
Recetnly he devotes himself mostly to the classical opera - in
the National Theatre in Prague he has been conducting many famous
operas, e.g. Don Giovanni, The Magical Flute (Magická flétna),
The Faith (Osud), Adriana Lecouvreur, Aida and/or La Conquista
(L. Ferrero's opera), which he performed this year for the first
time in a world premiere. With the National Theatre Orchestra he
performed as a conductor of the Janáček's Opera Festival in Brno,
Düsseldorf, at the International Opera Festival in Wiesbaden, in
South Korea, and he plans to perform Smetana's opera The Secret
(Tajemství) in Japan.
Marek Smetka devotes
himself to the music since he attended the Primary School of Arts
in Veselí nad Moravou. He started with playing the recorder. Later
he began playing the trumper because the sound of the trumped enchanted
him and his tutor J.Štica was a trumpetist at the same time. After
another three years had passed he finished playing the trumpet
and he decided to play the clarinet. After a one and a half year
of playing the clarinet he transfered to the Primary School of
Arts in Strážnice. Famous clarinet player J.Čajka was his tutor
there. At present he has been studying the Institute of Artistic
Studies at the University of Ostrava, in the V.Vítek's class for
clarinet.
Martina Bačová was
born in a musical family. She started playing the violin at the
age of 5 years with the help of her father. In 1996 she was awared
1st place in the competition of the Primary School of Arts she
had been attending, later 1st place in Prague Junior Note competition.
Between 1997-1999 she was student of Janáček's Conservatory in
Ostrava. In 2000 she got a study stipendium in the USA. After two
years oh her stay abroad she passed the entrance exams at Hochschule
für Musik C.M von Weber in Dresden, where she studied for another
two years. In September 2002 she became soloist of Janáček's Philharmonic
Ostrava. At present she has been studying in Z. Gola's class at
the Institute for Artistic Studies of the University of Ostrava.
Tomáš Klement belongs
to the musicians of the new piano generation. At the age of four
he started attending the V. Petrželka's Primary School of Arts
in Ostrava - Hrabůvka. His tutor was J. Holková. At the present
he has been attending the Janáček's Conservatory in Ostava and
he visits Mgr. X.Hranická's class. He got several national and
international musical awards. The Eastman Young Artists International
Piano Competition in New York is one of his recent successes. He
performed at concerts in Poland, Sweden and in the USA. His repertoir
includes Baroque music up to the music of the contemporary authors.
Jaroslav Brych (born
in 1964) graduated firstly in playing the French horn at the Pardubice
Conservatory in O.Tvrdý's class and later in conducting at the
Academy of Musical Arts in Prague in V.Neumann's, J.Veselka's and
R.Eliška's classes. He took part in H.Rilling's courses of conducting
in Stuttgart. Between 1984 and 1997 he was the choir master of
the Charles University Artistic Choir, between 1987 and 1994 he
worked as the conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Czech
Army and between 1994 and 2005 he worked as the choir master of
the Prague Philharmonic Choir. At present he has been a teacher
at the Pardubice conservatory and co-operates with the Prague Chamber
Choir and the Czech National Choir. He produced several records
with choir music (Eben, Martinů, Rachmaninov, Schnittke etc.).
During his career he has been co-working with many national and
international orchestras as their conductor (Berlin Philharmonic,
Concertgebouworkestra, Izrael Philharmonic, S.Rattle, Z.Meht, R.Chailly,
C.Abbado and others).
Mikuláš Koska devotes
himself to the playing of the violin at the Primary School of Arts
in Hlučín since he was seven years old. Two years later he became
interested in the French horn. During the studies at the Primary
School of Arts he became a member of the Brass Trio. Later he passed
the entrance exam at the Janáček's Conservatory in Ostrava and
at present he devotes himself to the studies of the French horn
in K. Doležil's class. He took part in the Concertino Praga Competition,
where he placed second in the national round and third in the international
round. At this time he is a member of the Dolní Benešov Young Musicians
Orchestra, P. J. Vejvanovský's Chamber Orchestra, Silesian Brass
Orchestra and Prajzovanka Vocal Music Small Orchestra.
Leoš Drda devotes
himself to playing the violin since he was four years old at the
B.Martinů's Primary School of Arts in Havířov. His tutor has been
M. Bystroňová. Despite his young age he took part at several solo
and chamber concerts. He took part in the Prague Junior Note Competition
(2004 - 3rd place), Kocian's Competition in Playing the Violin
in Ústí nad Orlicí (2005 - 3rd place) or in the Josef Muzika's
Competition in Playing the Violin in Nová Paka (1st place). His
hobbies are sports - swimming and the chess.
Lenka Svobodová has
begun playing the piano when she was six years old. During the
education at the Primary School of Arts she took part at the international
competition Amadeus in Brno, where she placed 3rd. This started
her motivation for a daily training of playing the piano. She has
been studying the Matiční High School in Ostrava and has managed
to combine the studies with playing the piano. Its evidence are
many competitions, in which she gets often awared. Her most important
achievement is the performance of Bohuslav Martinů's work at the
Pro Bohemia Competition in 2005.
Lionel Bringuier was
born in Nice in 1986. As a five-year-old he began to play the piano
and cello at the Académie de Musique in Nice. He got his first
award when he was six years old. Even at the age of 13 he passed
the entrance exam to the Paris Conservatory C.N.S.M. and became
P.Muller's student in his cello class. He began to study the composition,
jazz, choir singing and chamber music. Two years later he began
devoting himself to conducting in the prestigious Z.Nagy's class.
Nagy has been his tutor for more than 4 years.
Marie Hujerová,
whose tutor is J. Valčík from the Primary School of Arts in Ostava
- Poruba, plays the violin since the age of six years. Her contemporary
tutor is J. Davidová. Since she was eight years old she has been
taking part at several national and international competitions
in solo and chamber play of the violin and she has been reaching
the top positions. One of the most important events was the participation
at the G.P.Telemann's Internation Competition in Playing the Violin
in Polish Poznan in 2005, where she achieved the sixth position
and she got a Certificate of Merite among the 61 participants.
She would like to continue the studies at the Janáček's Conservatory
in Ostrava.
Lenka Zářická devotes
herself to the studies of solo singing at the Petrželka's Primary
School of Arts in Ostrava. Her tutor is M. Dřízgová. Now se continues
the studies at the Janáček's Conservatory in Ostrava. Her tutor
is Mgr. M. Adamíková. She co-operates with the National Moravian-Silesian
Theatre in Ostrava Choir. She got awarded secong place at the L.
Rozycki's Competition of International Singing and at the I.Godin's
Internation Singing Competition in Slovakia. She is also the holder
of the Slovart Music Label Award for the Best Singing of Old Music.
Martina Gerhardová graduated
at the Janáček's Conservatory in Ostrava in 2001. In the same year
she passed the entrance test for the studies at the Institute for
Artistic Studies of the University of Ostrava. She graduated successfully
in 2005. She was a soloist at several contemporary concerts (Jan
Grossman - Ciaccona facosa, Milan Báchorek - Adventures of Musicians
(Muzikantské zálety). She co-operates with the musical orchestras
Camerata Janáček, Janáček's Chamber Orchestra and with the Kubín
Quartet. Since the 2001/2002 season she has been a member of the
National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Opera Orchestra in Ostrava.
She devotes herself to the education of children at the Primary
School of Arts in Ostrava - Mariánské hory.
Petr Šumník graduated
at the Pardubice Conservatory, then he continued to study conducting
at the Janáček's Academy of Musical Arts in Brno. His tutor was
P.Vrnský, J. Pinkas and L. Mátl. He has been Conductor of the Moravian
Theatre Opera in Olomouc and he has been a techer at the Janáček's
Conservatory in Ostrava. He co-operates with the Hradec Králové
Symphonic Orchestra and Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic. He got
awared for the performance of G.Puccini's opera The Bohemian (Bohém)
in 1997, two years later he got awarded for the performance of
the I. Hurník's opera Oldřich and Boženka and in 2001 for the Czech
premiere of the F. Poulenc's opera Carmelite Nuns' Dialogues (Dialogy
karmelitek).
Chamber Concerts
Cycle
Stamic's
Quartet was
established in 1985. Both of the former violinists were born in
Havlíčkův brod, and thus its native Jan Václav Stamic
was chosen to form the name of the orchestra. The base of their
performance build the string quartets of Czech and foreign authors.
The quartet specializes on the specific chamber music of the recent
times. More often many international musicians and orchestras join
the Quartet at their concerts.
Kubín's
Quartet is
one of the leading Czech chamber orchestras of the middle-aged
generation. It was established at the Ostrava Conservatory in 1972.
Kubín's Quartet performs a wide repertoir, including works of musicians
from all of the musical epochs. The quartet also co-operates with
many national (e.g. I. Klánský, L. Peterková, L. Brabec) and international
(e.g. Moyzes Quartet, M. Lapšanský, J. Ehde) musicians. During
the time of its existence the Quartet has performed at many national
and international festivals. Important are also its CD recordings
(Haydn, Mozart, Nielsen, Janáček, Dvořák).
Petr Maceček graduated
in playing of the violin at the Acedemy of Musical Arts in Prague.
His tutor was V. Stínil. He won several national and international
competitions in playing the violin, but also the Henrik Wienawski's
Competition in Poland. Between 1983-88 he was Concert Master of
the Slovak Chamber Orchestra (B.Warchal), between 1994-97 he was
Concert Master, Artistic Leader and Soloist of the Suk's Chamber
Orchestra and recorded many CDs for Naxos, Vos Classics and Koch
Discovery labels. These records were very well appreciated by the
critics. He performed several times with his piano quartet at concerts.
Since 1998 he has been a member of the Talich's Quartet.
After
Vladimír Bukač had
graduated at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague he graduated
for the second time at the Freiburg University. Wolfgang Marchner
was his tutor. His solo play advanced during a three-year stay
in Japan in 1990. He performed in Osaka, Tokio, Nagoi in Japan,
and in Australia and New Zealand. Since 1993 he has been a member
of the Talich's Quartet, where he was firstly a violist and later
a viola player. He performed also in many other countries. Since
2002 he has been a teacher at Dresden C. M. von Weber's Hochschule
für Musik. He uses Lorenzo Guadagnini's viola from 1740.
Camerata
Janáček Chamber Orchestra, which follows the tradition
of the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, was established in 1998. It
consists of 14 musicians, mostly of the Janáček's Philharmonic
Ostrava members. Characteristic for this musical corpus is the
fresh musicanship combined with the precise technical performance
and strong timber. The orchestra presents these qualities at
many home and foreign concerts. The repertoire of Camerata Janáček
consists of all musical styles, from the Baroque until the present.
Brass
Quintet of Janáček's Philharmonic Ostrava was established
according to the needs of various organisations, which demanded
ceremonial fanfares. These are mostly performed on the occasion
of graduations, congresses and symposium openings, representative
balls, openings of buildings etc. The band was honoured by the
Townhall of Ostrava with the possibility of inviting the Belgian
royal couple to Ostrava. Another important occasion was meeting
of the Spanish enterpreneurs at the presentation of Ostrava in
Spain in 2003. Works from different time periods were added to
the repertoire in stages and therefore the band can perform various
types of programmes. The base remains the works of Renaissance
and Baroque authors Pezzel, Vejvanovský, Scheidt, Gabrielli etc.,
from which a concert programme is created, suitable for concert
halls or churches. It is enriched with pastoral songs, carols
and Christams poems during the Christmas time. Another pieces
are works of modern authors for five brass. A "light" programme
is created from this modern pieces, which finds its use at exhibitions,
cultural events, including balls, meetings or at the spas etc.
Pavel Rybka graduated
successfully in the piano and organ playing at the Folk Conservatory
in Ostrava. In 1990 he qualified for the studies at the Janáček's
Academy of Musical Arts in Brno, where he continued with the studies
of the organ in the A. Štěpánková-Veselá's class. After his graduation
in 1994 he became a teacher at the Primary School of Arts in Ostrava
- Mariánské hory and since 1998 he is also a teacher at the Janáček's
Conservatory in Ostrava. He also performs. He conducts solo organ
recitals, in the Czech Republic and also abroad. In 1997 he got
awared in the Performing of International Music Competition in
Brno.
Martin Kasík,
winner of the prestigious Young Concert Artists Competition in
New York in 1999, devotes himself to the piano since the age of
4. He graduated at the Conservatory of Ostrava and at Acedemy of
Musical Arts in Prague. He performed all over Europe, USA, Japan
and Singapore. He was a host soloist with many renowned orchestras.
For the 2005/2006 season he planned concerts in Switzerland, USA,
France, Great Britain, Spain and Germany. He was awared the Davidoff
Prix Award in 2000 for the Best Czech Musician of Classical Music
Until 28 Years of Age and a Harmony Award for the Most Successful
Czech Musician in 2002.
Czech
Philharmonic Quartet was
called the Philharmonic Quartet at the time as is was established
by the members of the Czech Philharmonic
- Zuzana Hájková, Jiří Poslední and Jakub Dvořák - in 2000. In
2005 it was renamed to the Czech Philharmonic Quartet and his leading
member became the violist Pavel Eret. Their brilliant interpretation
of chamber music is based on great emphasis of the talents and
experience of its each individual members (each member was awared
at home and/or abroad). Thanks to the representation of the London
Connaught Artist Agency they experienced great success in England
and Scotland, where they deepened the Czech Quartet tradition.
Regularly they have been performing at the concerts of the Czech
Philharmonic. They co-operate with other native and foreign soloists,
e.g. Kateřina Váchová, Robert Stallman and others.
Janáček's
Chamber Orchestra is according to the critics one of the
most significant orchestras, not only in the Czech Republic,
but also in Europe. The orchestra was established in 1964 and
comprised of leading members of the Janáček's Philharmonic Ostrava.
Soon became Zdeněk Dejmek its Artistic Director and he personalized
the orchestra due to his powerful and precise work and therefore
he increased its qualities and improved its artistic impression.
This can be noticed especially in the Italian Baroque pieces,
which therefore became specialities of the orchestra, and in
its Romantic music. The orchestra performed this works at many
significant concerts in the whole world. The amount of tours
abroad is wide and includes the USA, Canada, Mexico or Japan.
Only in 1996 hosts the ochestra in Spain, Germany, Mallorca,
South Korea and again in Japan. The Janáček's Chamber Orchestra
also performed at the Prague Spring, Janáček's May, Moravian
Autumn or at other significant festivals in the world.
Jaroslav Tůma,
an organ, cemballo, pianola and hammer piano player, graduated
at the Prague Conservatory and at the Academy of Musical Arts in
Prague. He placed 1st in the Organ Voluntary Competition in Nürnberg
(1980) and in the Dutch Haarlem Competition (1986). His composing
lead him to many European countries, including Iceland, USA, Japan,
Singapore and Mongolia. He also performs the contemporary authors
of the organic music of the 20th century. He is the Associate Professor
of the Musical College of the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague.
He distributes his musical knowledge throughout various performances
and voluntary courses.
