CAMERATA JANÁČEK Chamber Orchestra, which follows the ten-year-old tradition of the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, was established in 1998. Therefore, it is a young orchestra, especially due to its age and the age of its young members, mostly all of them members of Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava. Despite the short presence the orchestra performed several concerts and projects. Let’s quote e.g. the renewed premiere of the more than 200 years old Karl Ditters from Dittersdorf‘s work – his oratorio Esther – which the orchestra performed at the Autumn Sacred Music Festival in Brno and repeated several times all over the Czech Republic (Javorník, Ostrava, Praha, České Budějovice). Let’s also quote the concerts with guitarist Lubomír Brabec, violinist Václav Hudeček, pianist Natača Veljkovič, learner of the famous Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda and concerts with Korean soloists in Prague and Vienna. The orchestra was on a tour in Spain during the autumn of the last year, where they successfully performed Bach’s work, famous Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings or Barták’s Divermento.
The orchestra also creates records. E.g. they have recentrly recorded five symphonies of an unknown Belgian Classical author Pietr van Maldere, whose musical parts were recently found in Prague’s musical archives. This recording was assigned by the Belgian critics as innovative.

Brass Quintet of Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava
The establishing of the band was based according to the needs of various organisations, which demanded ceremonial fanfares. They are mostly performed on the occasion of graduations, congresses and symposiums openings, representative balls, openings of buildings etc. The band was honoured by the Townhall of Ostrava with invitation to the welcome of the Belgian royal couple. Another important occasion was meeting of Spanish enterpreneurs at the presentation of Ostrava in Spain in 2003. Works from different time periods were added to the repertoire in stages and therefore could the band play various types of programmes. The base remains the works of Renaissance and Baroque authors Pezzel, Vejvanovský, Scheidt, Gabrielli etc., from which is created a concert programme, suitable for concert halls or churches. It is enriched with pastoral songs, carols and Christams poems during the Christmas time. Another pieces are works of modern authors for five brass. A „light“ programme is created from this modern pieces, which finds its use at exhibitions, spas or cultural events, including balls, meetings etc. The band performs also for schools, starting with the 5th class pupils, for which it performs the evolution of the brass and music. The programmes can be combined according to the demands of the organizer and can be „made-to-measure“.

Janáček’s Chamber Orchestra

Orchestra was founded in 1964 and first members were prominent musicians from Janáčkova Filharmonie Ostrava. Soon after the foundation Zdeněk Dejmek undertook the position of artistic guidance. Under his guidance the orchestra became famous for its typical interpretation. His impressive musicality, stylish feeling and systematical precise work brought the orchestra at a great quality level. The orchestra is named after the most significant czech composer of the first half of 20th century - Leoš Janáček, native of Hukvaldy.
Our repertoir includes many compositions - mainly Italian baroque, Czech and Viennese classicism as well as pearls of romantism and of 20th century. Peak interpretation of these compositions has repeatedly brought us to many festivals in Czech Republic (Janáčkův Máj, Moravský podzim, Pražské Jaro and MHF Brno) as well as abroad (Toledo, Bornholm, Turku, Flanders, Munich, etc.). We have travelled on many tours around Europe and overseas, where we performed with many distinguished czech and foreign guests.
The rich history of this ensemble includes approximately 600 full-length concerts in Czech Republic, 400 concerts abroad, 400 educational concerts for schools, 200 recordings for Český Rozhlas (Czech National Radio Broadcast), 15 shows in Czech television, 8 gramophone records, rather large number of CDs (Supraphon, Panton, Riccordi, RCA - JVC, Crystal, Stylton, Slovart Records). For all its contribution, the ensemble received several awards for interpretation from the Czech Musical Fund. Zdeněk Dejmek received the award of the city Ostrava for lifelong dedication.
During the year 2005 Jakub Černohorský overtook the guidance of the orchestra, after leading it on a succesful tour around South Korea a year before.

The name of the orchestra was created by connection of the capital letters from the names of the members and the orchestra itself is formed by the four flashing instruments, which provide a colourful, cultivated, stylish and dynamic timber. Therefore can the orchestra control a wide repertoir range of all chronological time periods (from Baroque to present). The orchestra also performs hunting music. The orchestra was awared by the critics for its radio and CD records many times during its fertile existence.
