Chamber Orchestras

Camerata Janáček

CAMERATA JANÁČEK Chamber Orchestra, which follows the ten-year-old tradition of the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, was established in 1998. Therefore, it is a young orchestra, especially due to its age and the age of its young members, mostly all of them members of Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava. Despite the short presence the orchestra performed several concerts and projects. Let’s quote e.g. the renewed premiere of the more than 200 years old Karl Ditters from Dittersdorf‘s work – his oratorio Esther – which the orchestra performed at the Autumn Sacred Music Festival in Brno and repeated several times all over the Czech Republic (Javorník, Ostrava, Praha, České Budějovice). Let’s also quote the concerts with guitarist Lubomír Brabec, violinist Václav Hudeček, pianist Natača Veljkovič, learner of the famous Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda and concerts with Korean soloists in Prague and Vienna. The orchestra was on a tour in Spain during the autumn of the last year, where they successfully performed Bach’s work, famous Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings or Barták’s Divermento.
The orchestra also creates records. E.g. they have recentrly recorded five symphonies of an unknown Belgian Classical author Pietr van Maldere, whose musical parts were recently found in Prague’s musical archives. This recording was assigned by the Belgian critics as innovative.

Brass Quintet of Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava

The establishing of the band was based according to the needs of various organisations, which demanded ceremonial fanfares. They are mostly performed on the occasion of graduations, congresses and symposiums openings, representative balls, openings of buildings etc. The band was honoured by the Townhall of Ostrava with invitation to the welcome of the Belgian royal couple. Another important occasion was meeting of Spanish enterpreneurs at the presentation of Ostrava in Spain in 2003. Works from different time periods were added to the repertoire in stages and therefore could the band play various types of programmes. The base remains the works of Renaissance and Baroque authors Pezzel, Vejvanovský, Scheidt, Gabrielli etc., from which is created a concert programme, suitable for concert halls or churches. It is enriched with pastoral songs, carols and Christams poems during the Christmas time. Another pieces are works of modern authors for five brass. A „light“ programme is created from this modern pieces, which finds its use at exhibitions, spas or cultural events, including balls, meetings etc. The band performs also for schools, starting with the 5th class pupils, for which it performs the evolution of the brass and music. The programmes can be combined according to the demands of the organizer and can be „made-to-measure“.

Janáček’s Chamber Orchestra

According to the critics it is one of the most significant orchestras not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Europe.
The orchestra was established in 1964 and comprised of leading members of Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava. Soon beacme Zdeněk Dejmek its artistic director and he personalized it thanks to his powerful and precise work and therefore he increased its qualities and improved its artistic level. This can be noticed especially in the Italian Baroque pieces, which are Orchestra’s specialities, and in its Romantic music. The orchestra performed this works at many significant concerts in the whole world.
The amount of tours abroad is wide and includes USA, Canada, Mexico or Japan. Only in 1996 is the ochestra hosted at Spain, Germany, Mallorca, South Korea and again in Japan. Janáček’s Chamber Orchestra also performed at Prague Spring, Janáček’s May, Moravian Autumn or other significant festivals in the world. The amount of radion, television or LP records is growing together with the number of CD’s recorded with our and foreign leading instrumentalists.

Kaemika corni

Kaemika Corni, which is a brilliant French horn quartet, was established in 1978 and is comprised of Janáček’s Philharmonic Ostrava’s French horn players. The name for the orchestra came from the capital letters of the names of its members.

KA rel E mil MI rek KA rel

The name of the orchestra was created by connection of the capital letters from the names of the members and the orchestra itself is formed by the four flashing instruments, which provide a colourful, cultivated, stylish and dynamic timber. Therefore can the orchestra control a wide repertoir range of all chronological time periods (from Baroque to present). The orchestra also performs hunting music. The orchestra was awared by the critics for its radio and CD records many times during its fertile existence.
