In Tribute to Věra Špinarová is a new original concert project by the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, created as a premiere specifically for the multifunctional Gong auditorium. The evening will be dedicated to the extraordinary figure of Czech popular music, Věra Špinarová, who is inseparably connected with Ostrava. On 26 March 2027, ten years will have passed since her death.

The project features symphonic arrangements by Jan Lstibůrek, giving the well-known songs a new sonic dimension while preserving their raw emotional power and directness. The programme will present a cross-section of Věra Špinarová’s entire career—from her early hits to songs from her later decades. Audiences can look forward to timeless classics such as Bílá Jawa 250, Kouzlo bílejch čar, Jednoho dne se vrátíš, and Raketou na Mars, as well as other songs that formed her distinctive repertoire.

Three outstanding personalities of today’s Czech music scene will appear as soloists. Markéta Matulová, acclaimed for her portrayal of Věra Špinarová in the production Špinarka and Eva Burešová, a native of Hlučín. The concert will pay tribute to the powerful voice, personality, and legacy of a singer who remains an integral part of the musical memory of Ostrava and the entire country.
