The Janáček Philharmonic’s concert tour to the Baltics is based not only on Czech music, Czech performing arts (Czech orchestra, Czech soloist), but especially on the young, talented and promising pianist Lukáš Vondráček, who comes from the Moravian-Silesian region and has performed with JPO since he was eight years old. Together, they have been creating an unmistakable brand for more than a quarter of a century, backed by a high artistic level and the promotion of Czech music and Czech performing arts, especially abroad. L. Vondráček’s partnership with JPO is sealed every year on a number of joint tours (last on November 10-17, 2019 on tour in South Korea), they are generally accompanied by great success, full concert halls and interest in establishing further cooperation by foreign agencies.

In the Baltics, JPO will mainly promote Czech music – a prelude to the opera The Bartered Bride by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana and Antonín Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony, the composer’s most popular work in the world. JPO has invited its resident artist, Lukáš Vondráček, to collaborate, with whom they will perform Bartók’s Third Piano Concerto.

The concert is supported by the Moravian-Silesian Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
