New Year’s Concerts led by Daniel Raiskin for the first time
To mark the start of the second half of its 71st concert season, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava will present three sold-out New Year’s Concerts on January 15, 16, and 17 at Kino Vesmír. Leading the orchestra for these pivotal performances will be Daniel Raiskin, the orchestra’s future Chief Conductor, with the phenomenal pianist Lukáš Vondráček as the soloist. The program will feature works by Sibelius, Ravel, and Tchaikovsky – including the famous Piano Concerto No. 1, which Vondráček will transform into an experience filled with passion and energy.
“I feel really honored and certainly very excited – such a wonderful opportunity to start my new, close relationship with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava on this very special and meaningful occasion! I am sure that the spirit and energy, both on stage and in the audience, will be quite remarkable and very memorable – a kind of impulse everyone involved will profit from for many weeks to come,” says Principal Guest Conductor and future Chief Conductor Daniel Raiskin. He adds “I have enjoyed working with Lukáš around the world for many years now – he is both an extraordinary musician and a wonderful friend! We have also performed together with JPO already twice in the past and I look forward to sharing a stage with him again on this special occasion. Lukáš has an ability to fill every note he plays with an unrivaled energy and passion! I always feel particularly electrified when we are performing together and especially in-front of the Ostrava audiences which knows Lukáš so well and loves him so dearly.”
“Great music provides us with an emotional refuge, it creates a magical space where all of us are equal and everyone can be heard.”
This important event is traditionally held under the patronage of the Mayor of Ostrava, Jan Dohnal.
