We have to be proud. After a long time (June 12, 2020), the JFO compact disc will be released by the world publishing house – Naxos. The Ostrava Orchestra recorded this CD under the baton of Marek Štilec in the spring of last year. You will find compositions by the unjustly neglected Czech composer Zdeněk Fibich. For example, his best-known composition Poem (although it is not on the disc, it is often heard mainly in funeral homes) can compete with Smetana’s Vltava in terms of popularity.
On the CD you will find Fibich’s Symphony No. 3, and a selection of the best of his scenographic works – overture to the opera Šárka, overture to the 3rd act from the opera The Tempest and Funeral March from the 3rd act of the opera The Bride of Messina.
