An important representative of the tradition of the St. Petersburg

conducting school, Daniel Raiskin, comes to Ostrava together with the German-Japanese cellist, Danjulo Ishizaka, who will present the Shostakovich’s picturesquely restless the Second Cello Concerto. Raiskin will first introduce an attractive mixture of folk Moldavian melodies and dances by composer Weinberg, who was very admired by Shostakovich himself. By Shostakovich’s intercession, Weinberg was saved from the Stalinist terror. In the end, he will present one of the most excellent Beethowen’s scores, whose final movement, for its explosive character, was described, by Richard Wagner, as “the apotheosis of dance”.
