The very young French piano talent Rémi Geniet (* 1992) opens this year’s piano season with a varied, difficult, but attractive programme made up of the cornerstones of the piano literature. Busoni became famous as a prophet of the Bach’s legacy for a new era of romanticism, on the other side, Beethoven combines the high technique of the classical performances and romantic melodies in his “passionate” sonata. The last of the Prokofiev’s “war” sonatas is once again remarkable for its drama, extreme technical difficulty and provocative straightforwardness of some effects. The Ravel’s dream paraphrase of the Viennese Waltz is a tribute, as well as the parody of this renowned form.
